4 weeks to go and counting!
4 weeks to go and counting! I just looked at forecast for weather in Lusaka, capital of Zambia. 22 to 24 C, light wind, with wall to wall sunshine for foreseeable future. How boring! We have lots to do but nothing is a chore considering the trip we have ahead.
The team appeared to be in remarkable spirits last Saturday even when we had a run-through of our forth coming presentation to the Rotary District 1200 Assembly. We also enjoyed a little R & R visiting Clarks Shopping Village when Seb and I were under pressure to buy a blazer. We did succeed, and at a knock--down price!
I am busy working on action points from our last meeting, checking through all previous meetings and actions to make sure we have not missed anything and starting to work down the list of work, domestic and family issues and Rotary before we go.
Onwards & upwards.

Our first blog post: one month to go!
Almost exactly a month from now the District 1200 GSE team will be embarking on their journey to Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
The team met again this Saturday and worked through a busy agenda covering everything from visas to vaccinations. We are all really looking forward to the District Assembly on the 12th May where we will make a presentation to the District explaining who we are, where we are going, and most important of all why! It’s going to be challenge to fit everything into the allotted 10 mins but we were all surprised when our first practice run of the presentation came in exactly to the right time.
We were also very pleased to receive our brand new bright yellow polo t-shirts embroidered especially for the trip. Here we are sporting our new tops - we certainly won't lose each other!
It’s an exciting time for the team, here's what Adele, Alice and Kate had to say about the trip at this stage:
Adele: "It's starting to feel real now that we're actually going. I'm really excited and can't wait for this amazing opportunity"
Alice: 'We have been having regular GSE meetings as a team and now it is only a month till we fly out to Zambia... We are a great team with a lot of energy! I can't wait to get out there and experience my Art profession and rotary in quite different countries. I am so grateful for this opportunity.'
Kate: “I was last to join the team but after working together in our meetings I have got to know everyone and feel very lucky to be part of such a great group of talented people. It promises to be an awesome trip. There’s still a bit to do to get organised – only a month to go now!
We'll make sure we keep you all updated on our progress by posting regular blogs here.
